El basto terreno donde se localiza la actuación, es un buen ejemplo de la problemática que sufre la ciudad actual; trozos de ciudad pensados de forma aislada y especializada, que carecen de un lenguaje de conjunto, de cohesión. Esta condición urbana es el núcleo en el cual se enmarca el taller, todo un campo de experimentación abierto para tomar una decisión sobre cómo afrontar esta realidad, poner sobre la mesa propuestas de cambio.
Nuestro ejercicio se localiza en el barrio de Sanchinarro; las características que definen este trozo de ciudad, son construcciones de edificios de vivienda en bloque, configurando manzana cerrada, con apenas usos en planta baja, un viario desproporcionado, carencia de espacio público, entre otras. Todo esto genera situaciones que muchos de los participantes en el taller, así como los residentes en este tipo de polígonos de viviendas, hemos detectado: falta de vida en la calle, debido a que no hay pequeño comercio, ni usos públicos; una carencia muy acusada de cohesión social, una vida ligada al coche, puesto que hasta para ir a comprar el pan hay que desplazarse y dejarse engullir por un gran centro comercial.
Con el objetivo de fomentar la vida de la calle para así conseguir ocupar tal cantidad de espacio libre sin uso y mejorar la interacción social, empezamos a realizar búsquedas en la red para obtener pistas sobre cómo hacer que el barrio llegara a comportarse como una comunidad y sus habitantes tuvieran actividades en común que les unieran.
Uno de los primeros hallazgos fueron los foros de vecinos que opinaban sobre distintos problemas que encontraban en su vida diaria, como la falta de lugares para reunirse, o el desinterés por parte de muchos vecinos de conocer a las personas con las que conviven.
El trabajo propone una actuación conjunta ‘in situ’ y a través de la red, de tal forma que ambas se complementan, acción en la red y en el espacio físico.
El primer paso fue montar un blog que proponía como elemento catalizador de la atención de otros vecinos la idea de crear un festival anual, las fiestas de ‘San Chinarro’, como elemento de unión de todos.
Lo siguiente fue sacar ‘el foro a la calle’, nuestra propuesta ‘in situ’, para que la gente opinara sobre cualquier cosa, ocupara el espacio público sin uso y pudiera relacionarse con otros vecinos por un objetivo común. Por supuesto, podrían opinar sobre la idea del gran festival en honor de ‘San Chinarro’ e incluso ponerle una cara.
La propuesta en la calle resume la idea general del ejercicio: ‘Tiende tu mensaje’; físicamente se materializaba de esta forma, sólo que en lugar de tender ropa, todo el que quisiera tenía su espacio para tender su folio escrito. Quedaron así conectados el espacio físico con el virtual, ambos abiertos para que los ciudadanos puedan seguir tendiendo mensajes, que logren transformar su trozo de ciudad recuperando el espacio público, que ahora sólo se entiende como carente de diseño y de uso, suelo libre que resulta de la ‘no construcción’.
